Position Information
Under the direction of the Botanic Gardens Manager this position will assist in managing the curated living collection that comprises the UC Riverside Botanic Gardens located on about 40 acres at the east edge of the Main UCR Campus. The successful candidate must be able to tolerate physical labor under changing temperatures, including hot summer conditions, in the field, lath house, and greenhouse. The incumbent must follow safety techniques, including wearing protective clothing, eye and ear protection, and a respirator in circumstances that require such protection. Duties may include pruning; propagating; potting; planting; mowing; weed removal/reduction; herbicide application; gas powered blowing; installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems; controlling pests and rodents; applying fertilizers and pre-emergent herbicides; construction/repair of memorial benches, retaining walls, etc.; and helping with the many special events held in the Gardens.
The full salary range for the Nursery Technician is $19.82 - $27.73 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $19.82 - $25.62 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
