JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Direct Support Professional
REPORTS TO: Care Coordinator
The Direct Support Professional is responsible for all aspects of the consumer’s care. These responsibilities include but are not limited to activities of daily living, program implementation, behavioral monitoring, community functions, and all required documentation. Previous experience in behavioral health, community support, or ODP programs is desirable.

Provides consumer’s personal hygiene by giving or helping with showers or baths; assisting with toileting, shampoos, and shaves; and assists consumers to the bathroom.

Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding consumers as necessary; and assisting consumers with ambulating, turning, and positioning.

Promotes consumer comfort by utilizing resources and materials.

Provides and maintains safe environment for consumer, by using equipment safely and properly such as footstools, oxygen, etc.

Practices standard precautions in all contacts with consumers.

Protects organization's value by keeping consumer information confidential.

Serves and protects Aging with Comfort by adhering to professional standards, agency policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.

Performs support activities as prescribed in the care plan including but not limited to supporting independence, providing companionship, and providing respite for families.

Documents care provided and response of consumer/family.

Submits documentation of care provided via electronic visit verification in order to meet agency compliance requirements.

Completes all documentation of assigned tasks in accordance with assigned consumer care plan through agency’s electronic visit verification process in accordance with state guidelines for compliance with Medicaid regulations.

Enhances Aging with Comfort’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Performs all duties as assigned.

Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and be able to communicate effectively and relate courteously and cooperatively with consumers, Direct Care Workers, family members, colleagues, supervisor, co-workers and all others.

Must be able to demonstrate optimism, enthusiasm and willingness to work constructively with other home care team members and reflect concern for the well-being of consumers and others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (See Attached Physical Requirements Form)
Able to frequently sit, stand, bend, lift, carry, push and pull (minimum 25 lbs.) with or without reasonable accommodations to perform the essential responsibilities of the position.
Education

High school diploma or G.E.D preferred

Reflects ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
Experience
-
Minimum two years of related consumer care experience preferred.

Possesses excellent communication skills (written and oral). .

Personal life experience/history relevant to the position is acceptable as a substitute for education and/or work experiences.
Other Requirements

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation that is insured in accordance with
Pennsylvania state laws and regulations. -
Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.

Satisfactory criminal background check.

DSP training/certification or willingness to complete the online training.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Salary: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
