We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Septic System and Sewer Line Installer / Heavy Equipment Operator. This position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of septic systems and sewer lines, as well as operating heavy machinery for excavating and site preparation tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plumbing, excavation, and heavy equipment operation, with a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Septic System Installation: Install, and maintain septic systems including tanks, drain fields, sand mounds, at grade beds, effluent pumps, sewage pumps, and associated components in compliance with local regulations and environmental standards.
- Sewer Line Installation: Install, repair, and maintain sewer lines and related infrastructure, ensuring proper grading and connections.
- Snow plowing roads in the winter season with dump trucks.
Excavation:
- Perform excavation tasks using heavy equipment such as excavators, and skid loaders, track loaders, dump trucks to prepare sites for septic systems, sewer lines, and other general excavation projects.
Heavy Equipment Operation:
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery for digging, grading, and site preparation, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Site Inspection:
- Conduct site inspections to determine appropriate equipment and procedures for installation and excavation tasks.
Technical Expertise:
- Interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and technical manuals to execute installations and repairs accurately.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance (greasing and checking fluids daily) on equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Customer Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience in septic system installation, sewer line installation, and or heavy equipment operation.
Licensing:
- Valid PA driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred. Heavy equipment operator certification is a plus but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, skid loaders, track loaders), and familiarity with plumbing and septic systems is a plus.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of local regulations, environmental guidelines, and best practices in septic system and sewer line installation.
Physical Ability:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, hand digging, and operating machinery, in various weather conditions.
Problem-Solving:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve installation and operational issues effectively.
Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, clients, and contractors.
Attention to Detail:
- Precision in following plans, safety protocols, and installation procedures.
