We are seeking a skilled and experienced HR Manager to join our plaintiff's personal injury law firm. As an HR Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our human resources functions. This role will have oversight of another HR role. There is substantial room for growth at our firm. The ideal candidate will have more than 5 years of relevant HR experience, an understanding of HR best practices, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and productive work environment for our staff.
This position can be based out of either of our Chicago offices, but will involve visiting both.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and conducting initial screenings.
- Coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates to schedule interviews and provide relevant information.
- Conduct new hire orientations and facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to the fostering of a positive and inclusive work environment through employee engagement initiatives.
HR Administration:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both electronically and in physical files.
- Prepare and distribute HR-related documents, including employment contracts, offer letters, and performance evaluation forms.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Support benefits administration by assisting employees with enrollment, changes, and inquiries related to health, dental, retirement, and other benefits.
- Assist in the annual compensation review process by gathering data and preparing relevant reports.
Compliance and Policies:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
Performance Management:
- Assist in the performance management process by tracking performance reviews and providing support to managers.
- Help monitor and document employee performance and progress.
Employee Offboarding:
- Manage the offboarding process, including exit interviews and necessary paperwork.
Special Projects:
- Contribute to HR-related projects and initiatives aimed at improving overall HR processes and the employee experience.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a HR generalist capacity
- Understanding of HR principles, practices, and legal regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Paylocity is a plus. Microsoft Office Suite experience is a must.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
