The CalSTRS Pension Solution Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Associate Governmental Program Analyst, willing to consider Staff Services Analyst, on the Project Management Team.
The Pension Solution project was chartered to replace CalSTRS’ legacy pension administration system, START. START is the custom-built pension administration system that CalSTRS currently uses to manage and administer the State Teachers’ Retirement Plan for employers, members, participants, and their beneficiaries. The Pension Solution Project is one of the most significant projects in the history of CalSTRS. The new Pension Solution will incorporate the current functions supported in START including, contribution reporting and collections, crediting service, member demographic information maintenance, service credit purchases, benefit application processing, benefit calculation, benefit payroll, third-party deductions and disbursements, tax reporting, receivables and collections, correspondence and statement generation, and event tracking. The enhanced systems will offer increased flexibility as business and technologies evolve allowing us to better meet our members’ growing needs.
The Project Management Program supports CalSTRS’ commitment to quality and effective use of our valuable resources for the realization of CalSTRS vision, mission, strategic goals and objectives through successful project delivery and administration, management and support of CalSTRS project portfolio management system. Working in the Project Management Program provides the opportunity to work with business and information technology professionals throughout CalSTRS from project intake, assessment, prioritization and resourcing through the successful delivery and implementation of initiatives that transform CalSTRS’ business. Under the direction of the Project Administration Manager, the incumbent serves as a Project Analyst for PS and works as key member of the Project Management Office (PMO). The Project Analyst independently performs the more responsible, varied, and complex tasks to support a variety of functional areas and effectively communicate through all project phases. The Pension Solution Project (PS) is the largest of CalSTRS’ major strategic agency initiatives and is part of an overall strategy that culminates in the implementation of a new statewide pension administration system for California’s educators. The goal of this project is to implement a modern pension administration solution utilizing a flexible technology platform.

Duties will be adjusted at the Staff Services Analyst level.
Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.
Telework Information: CalSTRS offers a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions with staff working on-site at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 2 days per week.

Working Conditions
All staff of CalSTRS are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings. Upon appointment, staff are required to provide a current California address to CalSTRS Human Resources to be used as a remote work location.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with CalSTRS.
