POSITION: K-12 PATHWAY COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO: Director, Educational Services
WORK YEAR: 12 months; 240 duty days

DEFINITION & SCOPE OF PRACTICE:
Under the supervision of the Director, Educational Services, and the direction of the Strong Workforce Program Technical Assistant, the K‐12 Pathway Coordinator will work direction with K12 faculty, staff, and administration as well as industry partners to implement high-quality CTE programs by assisting with planning, coordinating, organizing and managing the operations and activities of K‐14 CTE programs for their assigned community college and collaborative partner school districts. Examples of this work include but are not limited to, connecting industry partners to K12 faculty and staff to support guest speakers, field trips, and site tours as well as working with community college faculty and staff to support early college credit opportunities for students.
KEY OBJECTIVES:
The K‐12 Pathway Coordinator seeks to improve the performance of K‐14 CTE programs within their service area in connection with metrics pertaining to the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant (CTEIG), K‐12 Strong Workforce Program (K12SWP), and Community College Strong Workforce Program (SWP) investments. The Coordinator’s work is guided by the K‐14 Pathway Quality Rubric and includes:
- Offering direct support to align and develop forms funded by CTEIG, K12SWP and Community College Strong Workforce Program Investments.
- Highlighting and engaging with labor market and program performance data and region’s workforce development plan.
- Coordinating with key regional talents, such as the K-12 TAP, Regional Directors of Employer Engagement, the Centers of Excellence, Regional Coordinators, and the Orange County Regional Consortium.

1. Act as a point of contact for and work with high school and community college CTE programs, Regional Directors for Employer Engagement, the Centers of Excellence, and other workforce development stakeholders to effectively and efficiently engage employers and industry representatives with the intent of building and strengthening K‐14 pathways that respond to industry needs and facilitating industry connections with K‐14 career technical education programs
2. Encourage and facilitate the intersegmental work between LEAs and community colleges
3. Facilitate the use of data to identify existing pathways and gaps among K‐12 and community colleges and help make recommendations for furthering pathway development
4. Inform and support the development and implementation of college and career exploration
5. Liaise with LEAsto ensure college and career exploration are embedded within CTE courses
6. Provide technical assistance to inform the development and implementation of the CTE curriculum
7. Provide technical assistance to inform the development of work‐based learning opportunities
8. Required activities include the following and others may be added to meet project objectives:
a. Engagement with the Regional Consortia: • Collaborate with other grant‐funded programs as necessary; provide leadership for other related grant programs as required • Participation in the region's annual process for developing and revising its regional plan • Regular engagements with Regional Consortia Chair, K‐14 TAP, Regional Directors for Employer Engagement and other Technical Assistance Professionals associated with the work to ensure consistent reporting and accountability
b. Partnerships with Local Education Agencies: • Establish and maintain positive relations with North Orange County Community College District, K‐12 district offices, high schools, county offices of education, community groups, and other related agencies • Keep abreast of educational and student support programs to provide accurate and timely information about the college • Provide support for CTE faculty at the high school campuses and build connections with academic deans at North Orange County Community College District • Serve as a liaison for K‐12 CTE programs and services between North Orange County Community College District, K‐12 districts, high schools, students, parents, administrators, staff, faculty, the public, and others; assure proper and timely resolution of issues and conflicts • Support connection with feeder K‐12 administrators, counselors, and teachers • Work cooperatively with SWP ecosystem partners to achieve established goals and objectives for all programs within the areas of responsibility • Work with LEAs to increase knowledge and use of labor market data supplied by the California Community College Chancellor's Office (CCCCO) Center of Excellence
c. Data Use and Assessment: • Assist LEAs and community colleges in using Cal‐PASS Plus to assess students' transitions from K‐12 to community college • Collaborate closely with technology services to ensure proper data collection and reporting • Collaborate with the college and LEAs to develop and monitor appropriate tracking tools to measure student success • Facilitate the use of data to identify existing pathways and gaps among K‐12 feeder districts and help make recommendations for furthering pathway development • Generate statistical data reports and prepare and maintain records and reports related to K‐ 12 CTE programs, services, grants, and enrollment; submit mandated reports; assure timely completion of required paperwork • Identify and use data to review K‐12 pathway development and implementation. • Identify and use indicators to self‐assess
d. Dissemination of Model Pathways and Curriculum: • Assist in facilitating collaboration between high school and community college CTE faculty • Assist K‐12–community college network development by identifying, documenting, and disseminating examples of emerging, promising, and best practices for pathway development and pathway improvement initiatives • Participate in relevant CTE advisory committee meetings • Plan and implement training and professional development for local districts and schools
e. College and Career Exploration: • Participate in on/off‐campus student outreach and recruitment activities in coordination with the (college district), related to K‐14 career pathways, including pre‐enrollment advising, application workshops, college presentations, campus tours, campus visit programs, outreach conferences, college fairs, and other support services
f. Postsecondary Transition and Completion: • Encourage high‐quality implementation and expansion of early college credit in coordination with dual enrollment administrators • Coordinate with the assigned community college district to support a comprehensive student outreach and recruitment services program for prospective students from feeder K‐12 school districts • Coordinate with the assigned community college district in advising and support services designed to facilitate course registration for concurrently enrolled high school students; collaborate with instructional divisions to develop and coordinate course offerings at area high schools • Develop and direct programs to inform K‐12 students, teachers, counselors, parents, and the public about pathway opportunities available at partnering community colleges
g. Work-Based Learning: • Engage local support from industry and local workforce development agencies for implementation of CTEIG and K‐12 Strong Workforce Program to promote relevance and value of education pathways for students' career preparation • Coordinate with the assigned community college district to support a comprehensive program of student outreach and recruitment services for prospective students from feeder K‐12 school districts • Support implementation of career exploration curriculum
h. Coordinate with Statewide, regional and local development and distribution of student outreach publications and marketing communications to prospective students, school district personnel, and community members
9. Support faculty collaboration to ensure sequential CTE courses align with regional postsecondary pathways
10. Support postsecondary transitions and completion Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Three years of full‐time work experience in a K‐12 school district, county office of education, college, or university position with increasing leadership and responsibility
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse cultures of high school and community college students
- The following qualifications are highly desirable:
- K‐12 or college advising, career pathway, and/or grant experience
- Experience working with special populations students
- Partnership development
- Data management
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
A valid California Class C or Class 3 Driver's License, the ability to maintain insurability status, and access to personal and reliable transportation are required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position primarily works in a climate‐controlled indoor office environment with constant interruptions. The K‐ 12 Pathway Coordinator must frequently drive from site to site to conduct work and participate in online meetings. The position works on multiple projects in a fast‐paced office environment and must possess the ability to meet current deadlines.
