Position Summary
The Radiology Aide is responsible for transporting patients from
one area of the hospital to another and assisting imaging personnel
with routine tasks of patient care that are learned on the job. The
job requires serving as a lift team primarily for Imaging staff and
other hospital personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Transports patients, medical records, and equipment to designated areas
throughout the hospital.
2. Transfers patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, and diagnostic equipment.
3. Maintains cleanliness of wheelchairs, gurneys’ and other patient transportation
aides or devices.
4. Escorts or directs patients to rooms or departments within the facility. Assists
imaging personnel with patients with mobility to prevent accidents and ensure
comfort.
5. Expected to assist in lifting or moving patients.
6. Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds (lifting or moving of patients,
equipment, or supplies).
7.Must be able to hear, see, and verbally communicate effectively with patients and family members.
8.Must be able to interact with others in a professional and compassionate manner.
9.Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity in order to assist with patient care functions. Expected to stand intermittently an average of 8 hours in a shift and walk extensively.
10.Orders and stocks film and other patient care supplies. As needed.
11.Assist technologists with ordering and stocking room supplies. As needed.
12. Assist technologists with transferring patients to and from exam tables and rooms.
13.Keeps storeroom and film storage areas neat and clean.
14.Escort and transport of patients to and from the Radiology department and other departments.
15.Escort patients to and from changing and exam rooms. As needed by technical staff.
16.Assist patients in changing rooms. As needed.
17.Assist technologist with obtaining patient history from patient. As needed.
18.Assist technologist and patient in exam room during procedures. As needed.
19.Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of use, care, and handling of specialized equipment, medical devices, and instruments used for patient care and transport of patients. Ensures all equipment is functioning properly and reports equipment failures. Obtains appropriate equipment to accomplish task with minimal disruption. Uses equipment, instruments, etc., in an appropriate manner.
20.Demonstrates ability to provide assistance with patient care, considering the spiritual and biophysical needs of the patient.
21.Responsive to patient need(s). Actions are timely and accurate to ensure appropriate cares is provided. Must strive for exceptional quality and customer service
Qualifications
1. High school graduate or equivalent
2. CPR certification required.
3. Satisfactory completion of the orientation (90-day) period, including written material (new employee orientation class) and on-the job training up to 3 months to achieve proficiency.
4. Basic computer knowledge – Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of keyboard, function keys, use of mouse, able to access/maneuver icons to activate and close Window programs.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and/or listen. He/she uses his/her hands to do computer work, write reports, do equipment set-up/cleaning/storage, clerical support, etc. He/she will be using the phone frequently. Good vision is needed to be able to read schedules, enter accurate data, etc. He/she must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability so as to carry out the above-enumerated duties.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Stand, walk, and move 50% of the day.
- Use proper body mechanics when handling equipment.
Compliance Requirements
Complies with Chinese Hospital Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs.
Base Pay Scale
Starting at $31.40 – $36.91 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
