Job Summary:
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand, track, and report direct and indirect plant cost drivers, labor productivity, and associated overheads. Update standard costs and costing model as appropriate.
- Analyze core accounts and key performance indicators for all areas of product and plant costs. Assist accounting team with monthly bookclose process and partner with plant management to explain favorable and unfavorable variances to historical actuals, plan (budget and forecast), and benchmarks monthly.
- Partner with Plant Operations on monthly inventory roll-forward exercises and year-end audited inventory observation. Analyze results and make any recommendations to management who will certify results.
- Embrace Lean Six Sigma and support a continuous improvement culture. Collaborate with Plant Management to identify inefficiencies and implement proposed solutions.
- Help build annual plant budget and mid-year forecast with documented assumptions, department level detail and full operational partnership.
- Partner with FP&A team and sponsoring managers to prepare financial business cases for plant capital project requests. Reconcile CIP and in-service assets with accounting team monthly to ensure fixed assets are accurate. Update capital tracker to report spend-to-plan, report variances, compare NPV, IRR, ROA/ROI, ROE, Payback and other capital metrics to expectations and benchmarks. Perform post implementation analysis to determine whether plant projects meet the pro forma expectations.
- Provide data for and participate in quarterly gross margin reviews. Analyze information and provide recommendations to management for decision making purposes.
- Identify inefficient, non-value-added processes or performance improvement opportunities within various plant departments, and partner with operational teams to seek solutions and develop corrective action as needed.
- Maintain well organized financial records and repositories with high attention to accuracy and detail.
- Be mindful of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and statutory financial regulations.
- Prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate with all levels of management and staff while maintaining confidentiality as appropriate.
EDUCATION:
- Must have a 4-year degree with concentration in Cost Accounting or Operations Management
- CPA, CMA or MBA a plus
