Job Purpose:
CDL drivers transport goods between locations using tractor-trailers and heavy trucks. They often travel extensive distances to deliver their loads and must adhere to traffic and safety regulations while still making their deliveries on time. The routes may change according to the loads and loading of the trucks when asked by the manager. You may be assigned additional duties to assist around the warehouse. These additional duties may include, but are not limited to: Inventory Management, Loading and Unloading, Administrative Tasks, Team Support and assisting in keeping the warehouse organized and clean.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform safety checks of brakes, steering column, lights and mirrors prior to each leg of journey to ensure road readiness
- Follow and maintain loading protocols, using chains and binders to secure cargo and re-checking their stability throughout trips
- Inspect trailers before and after loading, paying attention to status of air lines and jack positions and adjusting them as necessary
- Contribute to company data by honestly recording times of delivery and hours worked
- Assist in unloading cargo when delivery sites are understaffed, maintaining product quality throughout conveyance
- Always adhere to traffic safety regulations, exercise caution in treacherous circumstances and report unsafe vehicle or road conditions to supervisors and highway authorities
- Use GPS to stay informed of route information, and communicate with supervisors and colleagues using Samsara
- Keep the trucks clean on a daily basis upon arriving at the yard as part of post-trip.
- Inventory Management: Assisting in restocking and organizing inventory within the warehouse.
- Loading and Unloading: Helping with the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring safe handling and storage.
- Administrative Tasks: Providing support with paperwork, documentation, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Team Support: Being available to support fellow team members in their tasks and responsibilities.
- Housekeeping: Assisting in keeping the warehouse organized and clean of debris.
DRIVER QUALIFICATONS PER INSURANCE CARRIER
- Minimum Age 23 years
- 23-24 yrs old, <=2 MV, prev. 3 years.
- 24 yrs old, <=4 MV, or 1 Acc. 1 MV max in last 3 years.
- No MAJOR Convictions last 5 years
- CDL drivers require >= 1 year comparable experience
Core Skills/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- Experience interacting with customers
- Able to use a pallet jack
- Able to lift and/or pull 50+ pounds
- Basic knowledge of yard courtesy and truck docking
- Flexibility to work in fast-paced environment, variable working hours
- Willing to work nights, weekends and some holidays
- Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Must be able to Driver overnight and work weekends
- Must have positive attitude.
- Must be able to operate 27 ft straight truck with air breaks.
- Must be able to use and operate lift-gate.
- Ability to perform work duties, and all weather conditions.
