Townsen Memorial is hiring for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our surgery center in Spring, TX. The Medical Assistant supports a positive patient experience by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the nurse manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Demonstrates Customer Service Standards (smiles and makes eye contact, greets each patient and visitor, seeks out patient and visitor contact, displays appropriate body language at all times, take 5 minutes each day to go above and beyond for one patient or visitor, honor diversity and thanks each customer)

Move patients through appointments as scheduled

Escort patients around the facility, measures vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and give the information to the assigned nurse

Confirm patient' DOB and full name prior to interventions

Maintains and responds to e-mails
-
Assist nursing staff with cleaning and stocking clinical areas with adequate medical supplies

Responds and comply to requests for information including sending faxes and e-mails
-
Ensures completeness and accuracy of all documentation

Report statistics as required

Uses downtime efficiently, aware of team members workload and constantly offers assistance and responds positively to requests for assistance from other team members
-
Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance to policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements

Follows all safety rules on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the work place

Assist staff in Pre-Op and PACU, under the direct supervision of an RN
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology

Strong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks

Ability to adapt with flexibility: being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace

Ability to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision and depending one oneself to get things done

Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow

Excellent, polished patient interaction skills. Ability to communicate professionally with patients

Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette

Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word & E-Clinical

Energetic with a desire to learn and develop new skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or its equivalent

Minimum 1 years in Acute Care Setting
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
