Position handles the maintenance and safety of our thrift stores in Castle Shannon, Coraopolis, Monroeville and Penn Hills
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a routine schedule of service to each of the organization’s facilities.
2. Advise on the upkeep and cleanliness of each facility to improve overall appeal and safety.
3. Oversee minor repairs to HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems; including contacting outside contractors for repairs, oversee the work of outside contractors.
4. Conduct minor painting and perform minor structural repairs to building including replacing light bulbs. Contacting outside contractor, when necessary.
5. Oversee ground maintenance activities, such as snow removal.
6. Ensure that each facility maintains quality/safety code standards.
7. Inspect routine and preventive facility maintenance to ensure safety practices.
8. Confer with others to coordinate and prioritize work.
9. Oversee the general upkeep of buildings, including floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, locks, fixtures, and furniture.
10. Maintain maintenance logs for each facility outlying repairs, contracts, etc.
11. Prepare work reports concerning types of repairs made, materials used and cost of completed work assignments.
12. Purchase parts, tools, and supplies, as needed.
13. Submit expenses to Finance to assist them in the preparation of annual facilities and maintenance budget.
14. Maintains minor inventory of materials and equipment.
15. Assemble small scale furniture and fixtures, as needed.
16. Be accessible in the event of a facility emergency.
17. Ensure that all building and surrounding structures are secured.
18. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
2. At least two (2) years of experience in building maintenance; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
3. Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
4. Ability to operate small machinery.
5. Ability to read assembly instructions.
6. General knowledge of building codes and standards, including safety rules and practices.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

· Reach with hands and arms for binders, supplies, or tools and while repairing equipment or doing outdoor work.
· Verbalize instructions or information to contractors and other staff.
· Hear to receive information and instructions from supervisor, contractors, and other staff.
· Lift and /or move up to 100 pounds, which is generally tools and equipment for making repairs (i.e., ladders, buckets of paint or materials, sacks of cement, etc.).
The employee is frequently required to:
· Stand when conversing with various individuals and conducting repairs.
· Detect by smell unusual odors throughout the facilities.
The employee is occasionally required to:
· Sit at a desk.
· Lift at least 100 lbs. (using proper lifting techniques), which may be furniture or heavy merchandise.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include:
· Close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus when walking throughout facilities.
· Close vision for detailed paperwork.
· Exhibit color vision to see variants in paint or other décor and wiring;

· Moving mechanical parts when repairing equipment.

· Exposure to outside weather conditions when having to be outdoors.
· Exposure to vibration from machinery.
The employee is occasionally exposed to:
· Precarious high places while climbing ladders and changing light bulbs.
· Subject to fumes or airborne particles from repair materials or cleaning supplies, exhaust from equipment or machinery, and debris from a repair process (i.e., saw dust when sanding).
The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet when working in a private office and loud when operating machinery.
