Prime Time Toys International® seeks a Product Development Manager with consumer packaged goods experience to join our US team, with a central office in dynamic Nashville, TN. You will work with internal and external resources spanning creative, engineering, design, sales, marketing, and compliance disciplines, as well as our executive management group and overseas peer teams to deliver consumer-ready products for brands that are sold to some of the world’s largest retailers. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead a global product development process, including line planning initiatives and brand expansion strategies for new and existing categories within our product portfolio.
- Manage product development initiatives working across multiple internal departments and external vendors.
- Oversee the entire new product project life cycle, from concept to final delivery.
- Establish project milestones and coordinate with teams to ensure products are delivered on-cost, on-spec, on-time.
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales departments to analyze market trends, consumer feedback, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for new products or product improvements.
- Translate marketplace trends and insights into actionable recommendations and drive greenlit projects forward.
- Initiate concept development including ideation sketching--CAD skills preferred--in conjunction with other team members or design resources to combine function and aesthetics into winning products.
- Lead concept and product review meetings and create action plans for deliverables.
- Own every project status and resolve problems or roadblocks expeditiously.
- Manage budgets, timelines, and project resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within cost parameters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree with 6 + years of project management experience leading product development in a consumer hardgoods environment. (Toys or sporting goods experience with awareness of toy industry norms and regulations (ASTM and ISO) preferred.)
- Candidates must have exposure to manufacturing processes in consumer goods and will have at least a basic understanding of and appreciation for principles of engineering as they apply to manufacturing and simple mechanisms. Toys or sporting goods experience preferred.
- Familiarity with specification and designing for manufacturing, with a general knowledge of plastic production processes (injection molding and others) and assembly techniques for plastic products.
- Exceptional written and verbal skills.
- Ability to organize information, negotiate and communicate at all organizational levels with a positive attitude under tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and analytical skills.
- A schedule-focused mindset to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams.
- Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, as well as project management platforms like Monday and Jira, and 3D model viewing software.
- Experience with digital project management and workflow tools for inter-departmental collaboration.
- Experience with CAD software (like SolidWorks or Creo) a plus.
- Available for periodic travel to HK/China and other international locations as projects require.
