Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recreation Therapist to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will work with individuals who have developmental disabilities, special education needs, and behavioral health concerns. Your role will involve developing and implementing therapeutic programs to enhance their physical, emotional, and social well-being. The successful candidate will have experience working with a diverse range of individuals with different abilities, ages, and backgrounds.
Duties:
- Conducting assessments to determine the needs of clients
- Developing and implementing individualized therapeutic programs
- Monitoring and evaluating clients’ progress
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of clients’ progress and treatment plans
- Participating in continuing education and professional development opportunities
- Ensuring that therapeutic programs are safe, effective, and in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Providing education and training to clients, families, and caregivers on the benefits of recreational therapy
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Stay updated on current trends and research in the field of recreation therapy
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field
- Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, special education needs, behavioral health concerns, or senior care populations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain electronic records
