Case Aide / Bi-Lingual Spanish

Description
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Case Aide for our clients psychiatric program which provides mental health services and housing for up to 60 Adults ages 18 to 59. Developed in conjunction with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, our client serves individuals with a history of placement failure or psychiatric instability who are ready for discharge from Institutions for Mental Disease, Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Units or Crisis Residential Facilities and are in need of a safe place to live. The primary focus of the program is to provide intensive mental health support in a structured residential environment in order to prepare the client for more independent community living and a transition into a stable community environment.
Supervise & monitor resident behavior, record medication compliance. Assist residents in obtaining CA identification cards. & MTA Passes. Assist in situational crisis intervention. Transportation of residents as needed.
Essential Duties:
- Ability to work and relate effectively with multi-disciplinary treatment team, clients and public.
- Ability to assess patients for dangerousness and intervene in a timely, calm and appropriate manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently, uses good judgement, and remains calm in crisis situations.
- Knowledge of basic counseling skills.
- Understanding of individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
- Legible handwriting.
- Ability to work various hours and shifts.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors (i.e., cottage checks and transportation of supplies).
- Ability to remain calm, objective, and dependable in situations where residents are emotional or uncooperative, and situations where there are assignments that must be met.
- Ability to be objective, stable, and firm with clients who have a history of criminal behavior and who have mentally disabilities.
- Ability to appropriately accept orders and instructions from supervisors.
- Ability to appropriately give orders and instructions to clients.
Requirements
- Prior paraprofessional counseling or paraprofessional psychiatric nursing experience.
- Academic training in Behavioral Sciences
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences or related area.
Compensation
$20.34/hr - $21.37/hr
(non bi-lingual)
$21.34/hr - $22.37/hr
(bi-lingual spanish)
+ Additional DMH compensation, up to $1,250 Mo.
