PRIMARY PURPOSE:
AHF Products has a great career opportunity for an HR Generalist located at our Hardwood flooring facility in Beverly, WV supporting the Beverly plant and local WV Sawmills. As an HR Generalist, you will be responsible for supporting the efforts of employee staffing and recruiting, benefits and leave of absence administration, training and development, employee and labor relations, policy interpretation, time and attendance administration, and site compliance to applicable federal, state and local laws. This position reports directly to the plant HR Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
- Support plant HR activities to support the achievement of plant performance metrics in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity & People
- Support the execution of key plant HR initiatives and processes to drive continuous improvement in all areas of Human Resources to include organization effectiveness, staffing, labor and employee relations, performance management, training and development, benefits, employment practices and compliance
- Support labor relations activities, including CBA negotiation, administration of grievance process, interpretation of contract, and coaching supervision on consistent application of plant policies and practices
- Lead the recruiting processes and efforts for the skilled production group including job postings, applicant reviews, interview scheduling, offer creation, and pre-employment screening and provide support
- Serve as back-up and support for all hourly recruiting processes and efforts including job postings, applicant reviews, interview scheduling, offer creation, and pre-employment screening
- Supports plant new hire onboarding and offboarding actions including new hire orientations, I9’s, system processing, leave payouts, IT tickets, etc.
- Partner with Supervisors in the administration of plant Time and Attendance system including auditing timecards and running reports prior to Payroll processing, tracking of attendance points, creating disciplines, providing disciplines to supervisors to issue, tracking that disciplines were issued and returned by supervisors, etc.
- Support the Employee Relations strategy and overall culture initiatives at the plant to maintain a positive employee relations environment
- Support organization change and continuous improvement efforts and collaborate with plant leadership to ensure successful change management approaches through effective planning and analysis, communication of change initiatives, full and active leadership support, and employee involvement
- Provide counsel and coaching to all employees on a wide range of personnel matters to promote teamwork and positive employee relations
- Assist HR Manager in investigations as necessary
- Assist in the administration of disability and leave benefits including assisting employees with leave paperwork, communicating start and end dates to plant leadership, following up on denials, coordinating return to work activities, etc.
- Supports Benefit & Wellness initiatives including Open Enrollment communications and tracking, Biometric Screening event coordination, Flu Shot event coordination, etc.
- Track and analyze plant HR metrics to determine root cause and develop and execute action plans to address problem areas
- Administers plant data changes for all hourly staff, plant job bidding processes, and plant-wide communication platform
- Owns and facilitates employee reward and recognition program for plant employees
- Processes unemployment claims
- Supports ad-hoc projects
- Understand and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes governing HR processes
- Other duties as assigned
TRAVEL:
- Occasional travel to Sawmill locations, conferences, or similar activities may be required (<15%)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Project management abilities with excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Familiarity with HR metrics
- Ability to work the occasional off shift to support 24 hour manufacturing operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Access)

- Proven oral and written communications skills to convey information clearly and effectively. Solid listening skills to gather information for understanding.

- Experience managing employee/labor relations situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work the occasional off shift to support 24-hour manufacturing operations
- Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening
- Positive and Verifiable Work History
- Must follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment, e.g., safety glasses, side shields, approved safety shoes, and other PPE as needed
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a union environment
- PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification
