Bookkeeper - Part-time, 20 hours/week

The Bookkeeper will join a team providing accounting services and financial analytical support to Fifth Group Restaurants and Bold Catering & Design. This team member will be held responsible for consistent and accurate work as well as for consistently meeting all deadlines. They will interface with restaurant operations as well as all support functions and must develop and maintain excellent working relationships within the department as well as with all company managers. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of basic accounting principles and applications and be committed to producing excellent work product. In addition to basic responsibilities, in-depth responsibilities will support the recording of all accounting transactions necessary to compile accurate financial statements.
Reporting: Bookkeeper will report directly to the Controller
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4 hours/day, in person at our Support Center in Downtown Atlanta
Responsibilities:
- Daily sales importing, auditing, correcting, posting, and filing
- Entering and processing accounts payable
- Reconciling vendor statement discrepancies
- Processing and recording of electronic payments
- Preparing journal entries
- Communicating with team and managers, as required
- Researching, responding, following up regarding chargebacks, customer issues, discrepancies, service-related incidents
- Participating in the period-end processes related to auditing, performing reconciliations, creating and posting adjusting entries to the general ledger, and maintaining workpapers for balance sheet accounts
- Communicating with restaurant managers regarding P&L issues, payment discrepancies, vendor issues, and service-related incidents
- Recording and tracking expenses for the FGR Support office (e.g. facilities, repairs and maintenance, marketing, information technology)
- Resolving system issues, as applicable
- Managing applicable supply ordering for locations to support ongoing financial processes.
- Other duties as required, as determined by management and allocated among accounting team members
Knowledge, skills, & abilities:
- Accounting degree or equivalent work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Experience in a Microsoft Windows operating environment. Moderate to advanced Excel skills are a plus.
- Experience with Restaurant 365 (enterprise management and accounting applications) or similar accounting system
- Restaurant/hospitality industry experience (operations and/or accounting) required
Physical requirements:
- Frequent standing and walking
- Prolonged periods sitting and working at a desk
- Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing and rotation of the spine, elbows and wrists
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs on an occasional basis
- Constant talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words and in the process of communicating with employees and possibly guests
- Constant use of computer systems
