Must be certified or have 1 year prior experience as a medical assistant. Good computer skills are required in this position. Competitive salary with benefits.
Medical Assistant Job Description Summary:
Medical assistants are responsible for assisting the doctor. Their main purpose is to ensure that the doctor’s clinic schedule runs smoothly by doing everything possible that they can so that the doctor does not have to take time away from the patient by doing it themselves. This often includes prepping charts, prepping patients for procedures, scheduling patients, going over post-operative instructions, cleaning instruments, calling patients back, filling out forms for patients, scribing while the doctor does a clinical exam, ensuring correct testing is done and pulled up in the room with the patient, charting, etc. Medical assistants are not only responsible for maintaining clinic flow and procedures, but for following up with patients in the behind-the-scenes tasks as well.
Job Duties
- Cleaning exam rooms, daily stocking of supplies needed
- Navigating EMR system, testing programs, pulling up all necessary testing that was completed on the patient
- Understanding of ophthalmic terminology and inputting necessary terminology into patient’s EHR
- Scribing for multiple sub-specialties relating to ophthalmology
- Prepping for procedures
- Cleaning medical instruments with disinfectant and autoclave
- Attending staff meetings and continuing education meetings
- Completing necessary paperwork for a designated doctor
- Correct and accurate logging for injectable drugs
- Completing plan notes in EHR
- Some billing for patient charts

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
