SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic A is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing all electrical/mechanical equipment, including plastic injection blow mold machinery, in the plant and surrounding facilities without supervision or assistance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follow all safety, food safety, & GMP rules and regulations.

Possess the electrical competency to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions down to circuit board level.

Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment to “like new” state when required.

Work unassisted and unsupervised to job completion in a timely and proficient manner.
-
Maintain or exceed speed and efficiency while maintaining or improving quality of work.
-
Install and dismantle machinery and equipment.
-
Overhaul machinery by tearing down equipment and repairing or replacing damaged machine parts.
-
Operate mechanical equipment to diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs.
-
Care for and use hand tools in the repair of equipment and structures.
-
Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs.
-
Perform all general preventative maintenance duties such as greasing oiling, etc.
-
Possess excellent technical and critical thinking skills.
-
Well versed in a broad spectrum of trades.
-
Must provide own hand tools and tool box.
-
Identify issues that he/she is not able to rectify and communicate them promptly to the Maintenance Manager for assistance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None
WORK INSTRUCTIONS TO POSITION SOPs are critical to meet customer specifications and maintenance of food safety, quality and process efficiency. Operator’s manual available on each line.
WORK SAFETY Ensures that all tasks and functions of position are performed in a safe manner at all times and that all procedures and requirements are properly followed to accomplish assigned tasks.
FOOD SAFETY/QUALITY Responsible for food safety and quality as well as reporting food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority if unable to initiate action.
BACKUP COVERAGE In the absence of this position, an Electronic Technician or another Maintenance Mechanic A shall cover the absence.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE HS Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of industrial/mechanical/electrical trade school or 5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or electrician in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to attend all job related training classes to increase job knowledge and improve job performance. This also encourages confidence and sense of accomplishment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures and customer specifications. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts using calculator.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
