We are expanding and adding to our team. We are hiring for a Payroll/Benefit Coordinator position with basic understanding of accounting principles and can process biweekly payroll timely and accurately with the use of Quickbooks. We have several companies in four different states.
Job Duties Include:
- Assist with payroll functions including processing biweekly payroll timely and accurately for 700+ employees among the four companies.
- Prepare and enter all new hire information, pay rate changes, vacation/sick time, benefit changes and bonus'
- Process payroll for each of the locations by pulling reports from POS system and entering into Quickbooks
- Ensuring that all employee changes are updated and processed
- Process payroll liabilites including payroll taxes, garnishments, income withholdings, benefits, etc.
- Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting, including W-2 and W-3 prep, 941 reporting, unemployment wage reporting, and DOR reporting
- Provide various year end reporting including work comp audits
- Maintain employee records
- Effectively communicate to past and present employees and management teams regarding payroll inquiries
- Maintain health/dental open enrollments and eligibility
- Maintain 401k open enrollments and eligibility
- Maintain HSA contributions
- Help ensure payroll practices meet government compliance
- Create on demand reports in Quickbooks
- Must perform to the best of their ability all other tasks assigned
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of tax rules and regulations, including payroll tax
- Knowledge of unemployment rules and regulations
- Requires knowledge of Quickbooks accounting software; Windows and Microsoft Office
- Must have proficient knowledge of Excel; able to create and read formulas, create graphs for analysis, use basic Excel functions, and strong navigation and editing ability
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages
- Experience with financial reporting and understanding profit and loss forms
- Must be able to learn industry specific software
- Ability to receive data from POS system as well as basic cash handling systems
- Must possess the ability to handle confidential employee situations or issues with tact, professionalism and the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion
- Must be able to multi-task; answer phones, respond to emails, research transactions, and still complete work accurately
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, self starter

- Experience with benefits and HR a plus
- 2 year post secondary degree or previous experience
