The Maintenance Technician role at our Hickory, NC location is responsible for maintaining all equipment and all building-related repairs and maintenance. This oversight provides for efficient operation of all phases of the facility and thereby directly contributes to maintaining the Company's high Quality standards.
Education and Experience
- US High School diploma, GED equivalency or equivalent experience
- Five (5) plus years of maintenance experience in an manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Demonstrate a high degree of problem solving ability and initiative.
- Strong degree of creativity
- Self-starter with initiative and a strong work ethic.
- Requires the ability to operate a wide variety of tools such as hand tools, power tools, drill press, band saw, welder, cutting torch, lathe, etc.
- Must have knowledge of industrial electrical, including advanced electrical (three phase 260 volt and higher) design, sizing of components and installations, etc.
- Knowledge of all company safety procedures.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Strong team player when collaborating with internal and external team members.

- Noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office noise levels to loud noise
- Employees are required to wear mandatory PPE(8 to 12hrs per shift)which include:
- Company issued uniforms
- Hearing protection when on production floor
- Steel toe shoes/boots when on production floor
- Specific gloves when performing specific tasks
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 55 lbs.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in Avient Corporation is a drug free workplace.
