Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) Job Description-Facility Staffing in Frederick, MD
Overview: We currently have 8 hour shifts available in Frederick at a facility. 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. Pay is $23-$25/hr depending on experience.
As Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), you play a vital role in providing essential care and support to elderly individuals in various healthcare settings. Your compassion, empathy, and dedication are instrumental in ensuring the well-being and comfort of elderly residents.
Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility assistance.
- Monitoring Vital Signs: Regularly monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and respiration rate, reporting any abnormalities to the nursing staff.
- Medication Assistance: Assist residents with medication administration as per the healthcare provider's instructions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to prescribed schedules.
- Mobility Support: Help residents with mobility challenges to move safely within the facility, utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment as necessary.
- Nutrition Support: Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration, ensuring that residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration according to their dietary needs and preferences.
- Comfort Care: Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, engaging in meaningful interactions and activities to promote socialization and well-being.
- Hygiene Maintenance: Maintain a clean and sanitary environment for residents, including regular changing of linens, cleaning of living spaces, and ensuring infection control measures are followed.
- Documentation: Accurately document care provided, observations, and any changes in residents' conditions in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the nursing team, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and treatment plans for residents.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Valid certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
- Experience: Previous experience working with elderly individuals preferred, but not required.
- Compassion: Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards elderly residents, with a genuine desire to improve their quality of life.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability: Dependable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to providing high-quality care.
