Locust Community Solutions is seeking experienced, highly motivated community associates, preferably with experience in management, customer service, event planning, community organizing, or sales experience to be part of an exciting short-term outreach and sales campaign in Minneapolis, MN.
Ideal candidates are hard-working and detailed oriented with an ability to build relationships with local community leaders and hit sales goals. All candidates must be able to work independently and collaborate as part of a team. A strong candidate should be passionate about assisting multicultural communities in gaining access to at-home internet and/or mobile phone service.
Candidates should have a firm understanding of the demographics and geography of Minneapolis, as well as the needs of different communities throughout the city. Community associates will be expected to work throughout the metro area to successfully implement a program consisting of event planning, execution, community engagement and sales. This includes relationship building and maintenance with community-based organizations and potential partners, working with partners on creative strategies to reach multicultural populations and connect them with critical resources.
The Community Associate will play an essential role in hitting program goals and will be expected to adapt to adjustments in expectations and resourcefully work to overcome challenges.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Think creatively about the best way to connect with multicultural communities, share information, and improve internet adoption
- Plan and execute creative and informational events and meetings in multicultural communities
- Develop partnerships – and build on existing relationships - with local staffers, nonprofits, and organizations to help multicultural community members sign-up for at-home internet and/or mobile phone service
- Coordinate logistics including timing, location, and delivery of event materials for community events
- Actively assist residents to determine eligibility and apply for internet plans
- Conduct person-to-person outreach in high traffic areas to promote and assist community members sign up for at-home internet and/or mobile phone service
- Work as a team with other Community Associates in-market to ensure that all members of the team hit goals
- Organize and transport inventory of materials necessary for outreach
- Meet daily reporting and data entry deadlines
- Meet weekly/monthly metric goals for partnerships, events, and enrollments
Skills or Qualifications:
- Familiarity with community landscapes across the city including needs and barriers
- Language skills appropriate for working with a linguistically and culturally diverse team in comparably diverse communities – especially Hmong.
- Experience in management, event planning, customer service, sales, political or community organizing
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Great interpersonal skills with the ability to listen well and communicate effectively in writing and verbally with diverse audiences
- Ability to understand complex programs and explain complicated processes in digestible language
- Comfort with working independently – as well as part of a team - with a commitment to the campaign’s multicultural engagement goals
- Good computer skills and demonstrate ability to track/report progress
- Passionate about helping families and individuals secure and maintain access to at-home internet services
- Willingness to work across Minneapolis, MN regularly, with frequent travel to different neighborhoods across the area
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends to maximize opportunities for community outreach
Regular access to a car may make it easier to be successful in aspects of this role.

This is a field-based position in Minneapolis, MN and is expected to last 16 weeks (4 months).
