Position Summary
The Spray Technician performs various duties related to pesticide application, equipment maintenance, recordkeeping, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role requires a strong knowledge of horticulture practices, the ability to operate and maintain spray equipment, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of landscape care. In this role you will have overall responsibility for maintaining Caretaker Landscape’s contractual obligations on client properties regarding herbicide, pesticide, and fertilization management. Related duties include ensuring a safe work environment for all personnel assigned to chemical use and strict adherence to all federal, state and local laws and regulations.

- Treat specific insect, weed, turf diseases and nutritional deficiencies by application of appropriate product
- Complete sprays and treatment based on contract and schedule
- Maintenance of power spray equipment and the ability to maintain it while keeping it clean and in mechanically sound condition at all times
- The ability to ensure that all field equipment complies with federal, state and local regulations
- Responsibility for chemical oversight and compliance related to crew completion of chemical check-out sheets
- Maintenance of accurate records for chemical usage according to all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations
- Use good judgment in the application of chemicals (exposure to the public, weather conditions and other environmental considerations)
- Provide and maintain safe physical conditions for employees assigned to spray duties, per OSHA standards
- Adhere to all driving safety policies and regulations
- Other duties as requested, directed or assigned by management

Education/Experience/Licenses
- 21+ years of age – required
- Minimum 1 year experience as a spray tech - required
- Possess Arizona Certified Applicator License - required
- Excellent written & oral communications skills - required
- Valid Drivers License and Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record - required

Work Environment
- Work will be done in the field in all types of weather conditions including direct sun, wind, rain, dust
- The outdoor work will expose you to temperature extremes from over 110 degrees in the summer to below freezing in the winter
- Pollens, dust and fumes from chemicals, glues, automobiles and power equipment are present on a daily basis
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand/walk for 8-10 hours a day, crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; walk for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 80 pounds from ground to waist level; bend and twist to ground level, normal manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range
- Move briskly through uneven ground utilizing application tools
Travel Required
- Daily travel within assigned territory in the valley
