The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the surgical clinic. They support physicians and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven working experience as a Medical Assistant; national certification preferred
- Experience in plastic surgery, aesthetics or dermatology is highly preferred.
- Experience sterile technique and set-up for procedures

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Medical assistant will act as both an administrator and healthcare professional, performing clinical duties and managing administrative tasks in medical office, procedure rooms, and surgery facility
- Clinical duties will include but not limited to patient intake, triaging patients, EMR chart documentation, medication knowledge, surgical instrument processing and assisting in surgical procedures
- Administrative tasks may include: greeting patients and answering telephones, receiving and faxing orders, scanning, email communication, and vendor knowledge
- Apply the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide comprehensive treatment in plastic, reconstructive, cosmetics and hand surgery patients
- Work closely with the physician, patient care coordinators, and surgical team to ensure delivery of services and quality patient care
- The Medical Assistant adheres to the organization’s relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards

- Escorts patients to exam room and records accurate height and weight during each visit
- Ensures medical record is up to date and accurate
- Clinical intake using appropriate terminology
- Liaise between medical departments with discretion and professionalism
- Assess patient needs and provide practice and procedural information in clear manner.
- Utilize written communication skills in email on a daily basis
- Greet patients and present a professional sophisticated impression of our practice
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patients on various requests
- May be asked to schedule surgeries: convey pre-admission testing, obtain consents, order and collect fees
- Collect and post patient payments for consultations, treatments and surgeries
- Provide administrative support as needed
- Assist with insurance authorizations as needed
- Keep up-to-date on EMR practice management systems
- Prepare medical charts for patient visits - must have attention to detail
- Stocks exam room/treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms.
- Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient
- Assists with housekeeping duties which include spills, dusting, cleaning, emptying trash, sanitizing, etc.
- Initiate cosmetic consultations, educate and sell non-surgical services such as injectables, lasers, radio-frequency, and skin tightening devices
- Guide patients and prospective patients through our menu of services and other opportunities to enhance the patient experience
- Responds to, monitors, and follows up on patient inquiries
- Follow up with prospective and current patients after consultations to promote booking services
- Review pre and post care with patients
- Follow up with patients post procedure
- Support all patient needs and build upon relationships with existing and new clientele.
- Schedule cosmetic appointments and follow-ups
- Ensures complete and accurate documentation in patient record
- Assist with examinations and procedures
- Prepare equipment and exam rooms per highest clinical standards
- Triage patient phone calls and emails regarding questions and concerns pre- and post-operatively, and document in chart
- Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective physician(s).
- Assist physician(s) in medical, cosmetic, surgical, and laser procedures.
- Scribe all clinical medical notes and communication notes.
- Assist physician(s) in recording prescribed treatments, medications, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, phlebotomy, and procedures within established guidelines.
- Prep rooms before and after patients’ treatments, including checking all equipment at the beginning of each shift to ensure all is in proper working order
- Provide pre-care and post-care treatment instructions, as needed and pursuant to the office policies.
- Perform inventory responsibilities and stocking of supplies and equipment.
- Have a team player attitude and energetic, with outstanding organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work under stressful environment, while assisting and supporting other team members, as needed
- Become knowledgeable of healthcare administrative systems, billing, HIPAA and OSHA policies, pursuant to the federal, state and local law policies
- Attend all in-house training and continued education opportunities
- Assist physician with office procedures
- Ensure proper laboratory services, surgical clearances, imaging and pain management clearances are ordered/collected prior to surgery
- Sanitize and sterilize all medical instruments, and maintain proper monthly maintenance on sterilizer
- Assist physician with injectables e.g., Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, RHA, etc.
- Ability to see post op patients and remove sutures, tapes, dressing changes and drains
- Become familiar with and promote products and services
- Ensure the patient experience is consistent with our brand and mission
- Treat all patients with a kind, warm and professional demeanor regardless of situation, maintaining the honorable reputation of the practice.
- Complete other duties as assigned, both clinical and clerical, assigned by management.
- Train new employees as needed

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
