The Banquet Captain helps to direct the daily activities of the Club’s dinning rooms, banquet rooms, bar and patio supervising the servers, bartenders, and expeditors ensuring the highest level of service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

Ø Helps hire, train, support, and discipline employees directly accountable to his/her position while maintaining the highest possible levels of employee moral.
Ø Assures that effective orientation and training for new staff is administered and develops on-going professional development and training programs for the service and bar personnel ensuring the highest level of service is maintained.
Ø Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to including wage and hour, federal, state and local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages and health codes; assures that all applicable Club policies and procedures are followed.
Ø Supervises carefully the Dining Room to help assure proper service; takes orders, cocktails, pours coffee when necessary. Assists with table clearing and resetting as needed.
Ø Directs pre-meal meetings with dining room personnel. Relays information, policy changes, and briefs staff.
Ø Monitors employee dress codes according to policies and procedures.
Ø Helps to keep the service staff informed of upcoming events by placing event sheets and speed messages in service staff’s event sheet folder.
Ø Assures that all side work is accomplished and all cleaning of appropriate equipment and storage areas is completed before employees leave.
Ø Develops strong business relationships and respect with co-workers emphasizing a strong team philosophy.

Ø Maintains appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of the dining room, banquet room, patio, bar and their appropriate fixtures, furniture and equipment.
Ø Maintains control of food and beverage checks.
Ø Makes suggestions about improvements in dining room procedures and layout.
Ø Checks maintenance of all dining room equipment and reports deficiencies. Inspects dining room, bar, and patio to ensure proper set up, maintenance, and cleanliness.
Ø Assists with other centerpiece arrangements as necessary for different club parties.
Ø Participates in weekly supervisor meetings to talk about upcoming events and any other staff issue that arises.
Ø Helps the Food, Beverage, and Event Manager arrange banquets, luncheons, meeting, weddings, dances and other social events for members and outside clients; obtains pertinent information for guest planning and for completing the required event sheet.
Ø Ensures correct handling procedures to minimize china, glassware and food waste.
Ø Assists with linen ordering, checking service orders for linen necessities.
Ø Provides guest tours and offers suggestions in efforts to sell the Club’s facilities for the occasion being planned.
Ø Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
Ø Completes other appropriate assignments from the Food, Beverage and Event Manager handed down from the Board of Directors and Club committees.
Ø Establishes and maintains professional business relations with vendors.
Ø Works closely with co-workers associated with the facility ensuring a seamless operation between departments.
Ø Tending the bar (when necessary) with the knowledge of beverage nomenclature and recipes with the ability to make them.
Ø Maintains good relationships with members by recognizing them by name and greeting and providing courteous service of beverages ordered.
Ø Assists in orders of all liquor, beer and wine for regular bar service and special events ensuring adequate amounts to accommodate business demands under the direction of the Food, Beverage and Event Manager.
Ø Assists in the taking the bar inventory and updating any changes to that inventory under the direction of the Food, Beverage and Event Manager.
Ø Assists in maintaining the wine list including updating when new wine comes in. Tracking what is selling and making recommendations on changes to the wine inventory.
Ø When closing the night shift, secure and store all liquor, lock closet door, lock liquor cage and wine storage.
Ø Greets Members and guests and oversees actual service on a routine basis.
Ø Helps to promote and market the Club’s social event facilities and capabilities to all Members.
Ø Maintains a high profile with membership. Positively promoting the service philosophy of the Club.
Ø Anticipates, understands and responds to member needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
Ø Addresses member and guest complaints and is responsible for taking corrective actions at that time to remedy the situation.
Ø Works daily with the Food, Beverage and Event Manager to help assure the highest level of Member satisfaction at minimum cost.
Ø Monitors purchasing and receiving procedures for products and supplies to ensure proper quantity, quality, price and proper handling for all purchases.
Ø Manages physical inventory verification and provides updated information to the accounting department for all alcoholic beverages and bar supplies.
Ø Helps to develop and implement policies and procedures for service standards and safety standards.
Ø Reports immediately all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
Ø Practices safe work habits at all times, to avoid injury to self and others, including compliance with CCRB’s and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment.
