Part-Time: 25 hours/week

This position is for a school semester and will be re-evaluted a the beginning of each semester/quarter.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead College Corner Guide will oversee virtual tutoring program and will provide oversight, support and training to College Corner Guides with the support of FSC Supervisor. Direct services will be primarily directed to middle and high school students with an emphasis on supporting students towards the obtainment of graduation and post-secondary education that may include tutoring, post-secondary education mentorship and support, educational workshops, fieldtrips and presentations.
Essential Duties
- Provide oversight of virtual tutoring program
- Provide support, oversight and training to College Corner Guides and Tutors
- Communicate via phone, email and in person to follow up with youth and parents to ensure that youth are receiving services based on identified needs.
- Collaborate with PSA LAUSD Counselor and FSC Case Manager to develop individualized college plans that meet the needs of individual students.
- Outreach to youth and parents to promote participation and engagement
- Participate in resource/outreach events
- Facilitate post-secondary workshops and other educational workshops to support academic achievement.
- Research and identify financial aid resources including: scholarships, loans, federal work and study and other financial support available
- Plan and coordinate College Corner Workshops such as FAFSA, Career Opportunities, Financial Aid
- Conduct youth and group educational activities
- Will work with FSC staff to support with the complete and accurate data entry of College Corner services and outcomes into data base.
- Coordinates and oversee process for youth to apply for El Nido FSC Scholarships
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Concurrent enrollment in a post-secondary institution or graduated college within the past year.
- Knowledge of college transfer requirements and supportive services.
- A working knowledge of high school A-G requirements, SAT/ACT, FAFSA, college applications, college and university admission requirements, EOP and community college transfer requirements highly preferred
- Prior academic tutoring experience preferred.
- Knowledge of undocumented student resources including AB40, The California Dream Act and DACA
- Knowledge of vocational services
- Experience working with youth
- Must be available to work in the afternoons/evenings
