Qualifications
Prior Experience
- Medical assistant certified OR
- > 3 years experience as a medical assistant
Education
- BLS certification (if not already certified, certification is required within 1 month of start date)
- Minimum of High school diploma or GED certificate

Responsibilities
Represent the HOPE clinical team as the first point-of-contact for patient clinical visits, champion our culture of compassionate patient care, and support our mission to meaningfully restore quality of life for our patients so that they can fully cherish the moments in life that matter to them.
Support the HOPE clinical team with back office duties including, but not limited to:
- Greeting patients at the start of their visit
- Completing patient intake questions (e.g., chief complaint, medical history, medications, etc.)
- Rooming patients or getting them ready for their telehealth visit (when applicable)
- Obtaining vitals (e.g., height, weight, etc.)
- Pulling PDMP reports, lab results, and imaging studies
- Collecting and processing urine drug screens for analysis by a third party vendor
- Providing patients with referrals and assessment and plan summaries
- Maintaining cleanliness/tidiness of exam rooms and back office areas
- Obtaining prior authorizations for medications and procedures
- Scanning and indexing documents accurately to patients’ EMR
- Assisting patients on procedure day(s) (e.g., AccuChecks, vitals, IV placement/removal, rooming, positioning, operating the fluoroscopy machine, discharging, etc.)
- Maintaining sterile equipment and procedure/clinic supplies
- Managing inventory of intrathecal medications (e.g., storing and categorizing medications)
- Triaging patient portal messages and phone calls and coordinating communications between patient, caregiver(s), and the HOPE clinical team
- Suggesting and leading continuous improvement efforts related to back office responsibilities or improving the overall patient experience
- Ensuring that all processes related to patient care are in line with our values at HOPE and adhere to all federal, state, and accredited body regulations
- Drafting or updating HOPE standard operating procedures related to Medical Assistant clinical or back office responsibilities (as required)
- Overseeing training and ongoing professional development of HOPE’s Medical Assistant(s) and junior clinical staff
