Education and Public Relations Associate
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Education and Public Relations Associate is responsible for assisting in developing and supporting education and outreach programming, in artistic programming preparations, concert production, and committee work needs.
SPECIFIC TASKS:
The Education and Public Relations Associate:
· Exhibits enthusiasm for the San Angelo Symphony organization and its programs while: developing relations within the Concho Valley; serving as an advocate for symphonic music and music education.
· Works with the Development Director throughout the seasonal programming process. Assists the Development Director in contacting agents and potential guest artists, creating guest artist contracts, and maintaining music contacts as necessary.
· Develops education and outreach programming, including Music in Literature, Instrument Zoo, Traveling Trunks, Youth Concerts, and Music & Wellness, within parameters of the budget.
· Works with the Development Director and staff to organize and produce the annual Youth Concerts. Oversees the Region IV & SAISD outreach process, the construction of the curriculum packet, and seating placement.
· Assists the Development Director in overseeing the organization’s website as well as social media accounts, building outreach strategies to followers.
· Works with the Development Director to plan for, create and implement all marketing strategies. Maintains a seasonal marketing budget.
· Schedules educational presentations. Works with musicians, schools, home school groups, libraries, nursing homes, care facilities, etc. to fulfill education programs.
· Assists Development Director and staff to assist the San Angelo Symphony’s committees to fulfill the organization’s goals.
· Assists the Development Director and Finance Associate with the annual membership drive and actively participates in program ad sale efforts.
· Works with the staff to complete the creation and execution of the annual season brochure and season program book with the staff’s support.
· Assists the Development Director and staff in the preparation and production of seasonal, standalone, and special events.
· Attends Symphony events, which requires working occasional evenings and weekends.
· Other job duties as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in social media management platforms
- Excellent editing, proofreading, and writing skills
- Ability to conduct research and analyze data effectively
- Experience in media relations is a plus
- Strong marketing skills are a plus

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Experience:
- Writing skills: 2 years (Preferred)
