Overview
The Omaha Conservatory of Music is accepting applications for full-time Piano Artist-Faculty in the Piano Department to begin in Summer 2024.
The department teaches courses to over 300 students with a focus on customizing the learning experience for students with varying levels of goals and abilities. Students vary in skill level from beginning to advanced, with 10% of our students being adult learners.

Responsibilities and details:
A Piano Artist-Faculty is a dynamic educator who supports students’ music education path utilizing current musical pedagogy and innovative educational tactics and tools. Must be excited to work with students across a wide range of ages and levels, including very young learners in individual and group settings. This includes:
- Regularly developing and implementing fresh educational initiatives for the studio or classroom
- Providing expert music instruction, including demonstrating a high level of mastery and modeling this in lessons
- Fostering a positive learning environment
- Establishing a good rapport with students and families, encouraging open discussion
- Participating in teaching classes within the department as identified by OCoM
- Managing a studio, including lesson planning, scheduling, paperwork, phone calls, and communication
- Participation in the work of the department, including attending faculty meetings
- Duties as assigned
The department welcomes applicants whose work focuses on specific areas, including, but not limited to: Suzuki method of teaching and experience working with very young beginners.
Teaching Load: 22 hours per week
13 hours of individual lessons
7 hours of semi private/small group
Collaborative Piano Performance Load:
6 recitals/year (3 in fall, 3 in spring)
Salary includes teaching hours, studio management, collaborative piano package, department meetings, and limited outreach events.
Position Schedule
Possible schedules may either be Tuesday through Saturday or Thursday through Sunday. Programming generally occurs in the after-school time, but may occasionally include other days/times with advanced notice for special events.

Salary & Benefits
- **Salary: $41,162
- 40 lessons per student to be annually facilitated

**Salary Note: This position will follow the Omaha Conservatory calendar, highlighting 40 lessons between August and mid-June. A salary will be distributed over the full 12-month calendar year. Additional paid opportunities for summer work may be available. Artists may pursue other summer teaching opportunities outside OCoM that do not conflict.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidates should have one of the following: a bachelor's degree in piano performance, music education, or piano pedagogy before starting employment
- Demonstrated success in piano lessons and classes with multiple levels of teaching
- Two years of teaching experience
- Successful class teaching experience
- Strong record of working collaboratively
- Successful experience in collaborative piano
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Teaching in classroom settings, including but not limited to, technique classes, repertoire classes, traditional school setting, etc.)
- Teaching experience with young children (ages 3-5)
- Fluency in Spanish
- Suzuki training
- Experience with music by diverse composers, eclectic styles, etc.

Work Environment
While performing the typical duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. Occasionally, the employee may be asked to perform work outdoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and could occasionally become loud.
