The Department of Pediatrics seeks a Nurse Specialist to function as a Care Coordinator that will participate in the development, implementation, evaluation of the Center for Adults with Childhood Chronic Conditions (CACCC), quality improvement efforts, department meetings, and committees, continue in professional education activities, and/or facilitate the collection of research data for approved investigational projects. The Care Coordinator will participate in education programs upon request and provide consultation to other care coordinators/case managers associated with ECU such as C5 clinic, as needed. The Care Coordinator will communicate effectively with in- and out-patient and school-based providers to ensure continuity of care. The ideal candidate will gather information regarding availability and the need for support services and keep the professional community and potential clients informed about the availability of care management services. The selected candidate will be expected to work with a positive approach in a team environment and interact with residents, medical students, nursing students, and other learners on a daily basis to teach procedures and concepts that relate to nursing practice. In addition, the selected candidate will serve as an educator for the patient population and other family members regarding preventative health measures, disease, and disease management. Currently, hours of clinic operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a flexible scheduled late day to accommodate patient care, Monday through Friday. The selected candidate will also help cover the Adult and Pediatric Healthcare Clinic as needed.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.

Minimum Education/Experience
Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
