Golden Isles Olive Oil and Restaurant, located on the picturesque St. Simons Island in Georgia, is seeking a dynamic and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Host/Hostess. As a Host/Hostess, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for our guests. Your friendly demeanor, exceptional communication skills, and ability to multitask will contribute to the overall success of our restaurant.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests: Be the first point of contact for guests, warmly greet them upon arrival, and provide a positive first impression of the restaurant.
- Manage reservations: Effectively handle guest reservations, including accurately recording information, organizing seating arrangements, and maintaining the reservation book or system.
- Seat guests: Escort guests to their designated tables in a timely and organized manner while considering their seating preferences and maintaining an appropriate flow of guests throughout the restaurant.
- Provide menu knowledge and assistance: Familiarize yourself with the restaurant's menu offerings, including daily specials, and provide accurate information and recommendations to guests as needed.
- Coordinate with service staff: Collaborate with servers, bussers, and other restaurant staff to ensure smooth operations and timely seating of guests.
- Maintain the waiting area: Keep the waiting area clean, organized, and inviting. Ensure that guests have a comfortable and pleasant experience while they wait for their table.
- Handle guest inquiries and concerns: Respond promptly to guest inquiries, resolve minor issues or complaints, and escalate more complex matters to the appropriate personnel.
- Uphold health and safety standards: Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Assist with special events: Provide support during special events, private parties, or other functions held at the restaurant, which may involve additional responsibilities such as managing guest lists or coordinating with the event team.
- Collaborate with management: Maintain open and effective communication with restaurant management, sharing feedback, suggestions, and observations to enhance the overall guest experience.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Familiarity with the local area and a passion for food and hospitality are advantageous.
