We empower adults and children living with lung disease by teaching them skills to manage their health. Respiratory Health Association is seeking a Program Manager to work closely with colleagues in the Programs and Policy department to implement tobacco control and chronic disease initiatives, as well as other activities that promote clean air and healthy lungs for all.
Key Responsibilities: Tobacco
- Manages the planning and implementation of Respiratory Health Association’s community-based lung health programs, including Counsel to Quit®, Courage to Quit®, vaping education, among others;
- Manages RHAs tobacco control grant portfolio including writing grant progress reports, budget development and tracking, and assisting with writing grant applications.
- Facilitate trainings and presentations (both in-person and virtually), related to chronic disease management, lung cancer, and tobacco cessation and treatment integration to multiple, diverse audiences.
- Conducts outreach to external stakeholders, including community partner agencies, schools, local health departments, healthcare providers, and pulmonary rehabilitation groups to develop, promote and implement community-based lung health programs and smoke-free policy, systems and environment change initiatives.
- Leads program evaluation, database management and program inventory; and
- Develops health education and promotion materials, including curriculums, factsheets, newsletter articles, etc.
COPD
- Coordinates the planning and implementation of RHA’s annual Living Better Together® COPD Conference (virtual or in-person); and
- Supports the development of health education and promotion materials including presentations, fact sheets, website updates, and newsletter articles within the COPD Patient and Provider quarterly e-newsletter and the semiannual Inspiration printed newsletter.
Other Responsibilities:
- Supports grant proposal writing to fund chronic disease management and tobacco cessation initiatives.
- Assists with program adaptation and development based on community needs, partner feedback, and program evaluation results.
- Coordinates and tracks requirements for continuing education credits for physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, behavioral health professionals, and other healthcare providers including processing continuing education applications, evaluations, and follow up; and
- Conducts other special projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in public health, nursing, or other allied health programs is strongly preferred.
- Strong planning and organizational skills. Experience with conference planning a plus.
- Experience with the implementation of community programs and/or public health initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be comfortable and able to present in front of large, diverse audiences.
- Proficient in building and maintaining strong relationships, demonstrating initiative, and taking responsibility.
- Experience in using online database systems strongly preferred.
- Must be able and willing to travel to community sites throughout Chicagoland and surrounding counties by car.
Salary/Benefits:
The salary for this position is $55,000 annually.
