Summary
The Transport Nurse-Base Lead serves as front line administrative support to LifeLINK staff members with a focus on the assigned remote base location. Supported by lifeLINK Administration the site lead is responsible for facilitating base site specific administrative and operational needs. In addition to the supportive functions, the Transport Nurse-Base Lead is also expected to provide primary patient care in the transport setting as a direct care provider on a routinely scheduled in a staffing capacity. Patient care duties to be performed within the health system are to remain with the approved scope of practice for the Transport Nurse.Must currently hold N.C. EMT certification or obtain with 1 yr. of hire, must maintain currency in NCOEMS continuing education requirements consistent with certification level. Current ACLS, PALS, ITLS or Advanced Trauma Certification, and NRP. Completion of NIMS 100, 200, 700. All certifications must be maintained continuously while employed. A camts recognized nursing specialty certification is required within 1 year of employment, specialty nursing certification must be in place to occupy flight role. Experience in leadership, outreach, or marketing preferred Minimum of 3 years recent and concurrent nursing experience required in an ED or ICU setting. Alternatively, 3 years in a Critical Care Paramedic position and an enhanced orientation process may be substituted once RN licensure is obtained, for ED/ICU experience. A valid N.C. driver’s license required. Must maintain acceptable driving record and remain current on driver safety training. Abilities to prioritize, multi-task and communicate are vital to the success of this role. Thorough working knowledge of emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous materials incidents, equipment and supplies employed in pre-hospital care, and of communications equipment used. This knowledge being obtained within six months of employment. Ability to work calmly under extremely stressful conditions and follow established rules, procedures, and protocols. Ability to deal with patients, their families and others in a courteous, compassionate, professional manner under the most adverse circumstances, and an ability to maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and other emergency and health care personnel. Ability to drive all types of ambulance vehicles and a thorough knowledge of safe driving procedures used in the response of emergency vehicles. Is knowledgeable of the age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of the patients typically served.Hearing, speaking, and visual acuity are required for effective supervision. Ability to operate an emergency vehicle and the ability to move around numerous physical locations and within confined areas. Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 150 pounds, with assistance and to assume awkward positions in emergency situations. Position may involve exposure to skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials. For staff functioning in functioning in a flight role, maximum duty weight is 240 lbs (110kg) in flight uniform. Visual acuity must meet or exceed 20/40 vision in both eyes, corrective lenses are allowed.
