Purpose of the Position:
The Instructor fulfills primary instructional duties and responsibilities as assigned. No teaching experience is necessary! The Instructor provides core content instruction to students based on our curriculum. The Instructor works with the program director and other educational staff to maximize academic achievement, retention, certification, graduation, and placement outcomes. You will be fully supported every step of the way with ongoing training and the tools needed to confidently conduct our curriculum.
What You'll Do
- Teach the Electrical Trades Technology classes using American Institute’s fundamental and ABHES-accredited curricula
- Provide hands-on for entry level electrician skills training in our equipped classroom lab
- Instruct students about the importance of OSHA safety and the National Electrical Code compliance
- Encourage student growth, professionalism, and accountability teaching entry level skills to build on for apprenticeship and journeyman electrician
- Support and communicate progress with students
- Lead a motivating and engaging class in a positive setting
- Prepare students for a successful career in a field of their choice such as residential, commercial, construction, union electrician, or troubleshooting of systems and circuits
- Proactively monitors students’ performance and actively outreaches as needed
- Provides academic feedback in a constructive, positive, and timely manner
- Creates learning support tools to support students based on demonstrated needs
- Grade course activities and post weekly and final grades by the pre-determined deadline(s)
- Follows Student and Employee Code of Conduct and Scholastic honesty
- Is responsive to program leadership, staff, and students via email, telephone, and/or virtual or other communications per established expectations
Requirements
- 3 years of verifiable experience directly related to residential, commercial, or industrial electrical work, alarm systems, control systems or a combination of these areas
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, motivated and results driven
- Prior teaching experience preferred, but not necessary
