Key Responsibilities for the Activity Programmer:
The responsibilities of the Activity Programmer include:

Implement activity programs on units and help as needed or as assigned.

Help plan and carry out unit/facility wide activities as needed.

Transport residents to and from activities throughout the facility.

Provide one-on-one visits for all residents who have not attended group activities.

Assist residents working on individual projects including crafts, writing letters, reading, etc.

Complete documentation of recreation activities to assure compliance with all related local, State, Federal or Hooverwood regulations, whichever standard is higher, regarding MDS 3.0 assessments, attendance, and progress notes.

Assist the Transporter in transporting clients in the Hooverwood vehicle when required for outings.

Help with scheduling monthly activities such as, booking entertainment, researching and finding new and innovative activities/entertainment, creating monthly calendar, assist with staff scheduling, etc.

Perform record keeping duties such as filing daily census form, resident info cards, typing up monthly birthday lists, Hooverwood’s quarterly newsletter, etc.

Assist with programming and care for the Adult Day Services clients as needed. Minimal CNA duties as assigned by the Director if a CNA.

Assist with the admission process for Adult Day Services as requested by the Director.

Assist the Activity Director with all aspects of the volunteer program such as, reference checks, volunteer orientation, scheduling, proper wheel chair usage, sign in/out procedures, etc.

Shall fully comply with all aspects of Hooverwood’s Corporate Compliance program and its Code of Conduct.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or the Director of Activities and Adult Day Services.
Requirements:
Activity Programmer Qualifications:
1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
2. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
3. Experience working with a geriatric population preferred
4. General knowledge of computers and Windows required
5. Must be willing to obtain a CDL license
6. Activity Director Certified Preferred
7. Must be familiar MDS 3.0
Physical or Mental Functions Required to Perform Job: The Activity Programmer (1) must function effectively under timelines and multiple demands; (2) must be able to fully and effectively communicate orally and have the ability to write or type; (3) must be able to read normal print/script and computer generated type; (4) must have the ability to hear effectively; (5) must have full use of at least one arm and hand; (6) must be ambulatory; (7) must be able to push/pull residents in a wheelchair without assistance.
