The Billing Coordinator is a pivotal role in our Dental practice, playing a crucial part in ensuring a positive patient experience. They will coordinate all financial systems implemented in the practice, serving as a vital link between the practice and insurance companies. This liaison role is instrumental in determining patient eligibility and maximizing their portion, thereby equipping the treatment coordinator for effective financial discussions.
PRIMARY DUTIES
FINANCIAL & INSURANCE
- Maintain patient insurance benefit profiles
- Ensure patient portions of payment are collected at the time of service.
- Prepare collection sheet for each day.
- Complete end-of-day and end-of-month balancing.
- Ensure all patient payments are posted in a timely manner.
- Facilitate the patient billing system.
- Oversee submission of all insurance claims.
- Follow-up system for outstanding insurance claims.
- Follow-up system for overdue patient accounts.
- Maintain patient insurance benefit profiles.
- Respond effectively to insurance questions, concerns, or issues as needed.
- Submit predeterminations if required.
- Maintain insurance updates for out-of-network companies.
- Communicate with outside financing companies and all 3rd party vendors.
SECONDARY DUTIES
SCHEDULING
- Verbally greet patients in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries professionally and with outstanding customer service.
- Schedule patient appointments following documented scheduling policies.
- Utilize effective scripts for all patient interactions.
- Maintain updated patient information in each patient record.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the doctor.

DESIRED SKILLS

- Knowledge of dental procedures
- Experience utilizing practice management software, preferably Dentrix
- Experience with 3rd party financial companies such as Care Credit
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
