Job Overview:
Operates forklift, loads and unloads trucks, organizes warehouse, maintains inventory, tracks inbound and outbound orders.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain security and quality control of all merchandise and material.
- Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Sort and load trucks per Salvation Army policy.
- Maintain order and safety on the dock for all items being loaded or unloaded.
- Supervise operation of the forklift as necessary, being sure operators observe all safety regulations.
- Supervise operation of weight scales and proper recording of weights.
- Must be available for a flexible schedule; ability to work early shifts, late shifts, and some weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Prior experience working in a <Warehouse> setting preferred.
- Proficient in operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
- Strong <mechanical knowledge> to troubleshoot minor issues with equipment.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for inventory management.
- Excellent <shipping receiving> skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members effectively.
- Ability to speak, write, and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with customers, management, and co-workers.
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to use of the payroll program, and all other programs or systems that are adopted by the TSA ARC.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Minimum Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, certifications, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education & Experience:
High School Degree or equivalent. Two years transportation, warehouse, and/or loading dock experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Forklift truck experience and Illinois OSHA Certified.
Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License required to operate and move trucks as needed. Successfully complete and pass the Illinois OSHA Forklift Certification every 3 years if not already certified.

Travel:
May be required to travel to various locations for work or training.
Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position is a store or warehouse environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather which exposes the employee to outdoor conditions.
