POSITION SUMMARY
Medical Billing and Coding Specialist utilizes knowledge of insurance regulations, health insurance contracts, and medical coding. These include but are not limited to medical coding, insurance verification, ensuring the accuracy of the information housed in the practice management system, preparing deposits, collecting, posting, and managing account payments. Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of Ticho Eye Associates.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect, post, and manage patient payments.
- Assigns CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes.
Submit claims to insurance carriers. Prepare and review patient statements. Review delinquent accounts and call for collection purposes. Process payments from insurance companies. Code patient services and enter into practice management software. Handle information regarding patient surgery, treatment, diagnosis, and related procedures to ensure proper coding and follow up to see if a claims are accepted or denied. Investigate rejected claims to see why denial was issued. Submit necessary documentation to insurance carriers to assure claims are not denied. Maintain confidentiality and Patient Privacy. Investigate insurance fraud and report if found.****

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Computer Skills: 2 years (Required)
- Medical office experience: 2 years preferred, but we are willing to train the right person for the job.
