Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position: Office Porter and Administrative Clerk
The Office Porter and Administrative Clerk is responsible for making sure all common areas of the Administrative Office are neat, clean, free from clutter and safe. During the day he/she will spend time picking up trash, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming as needed to maintain all common areas in a neat and orderly manner at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must be reliable, positive attitude, and exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Office Porter and Administrative Clerk Principal Responsibilities:
1. Clean areas and dispose of garbage in accordance with the facility schedule. Meeting rooms, and café areas are to be continuously policed and picked up throughout the day for removal of all litter, debris and trash.
2. Inspect all public lavatories for cleanliness and maintenance of an adequate supply of toiletries for replenishment of soap, hand towels, toilet paper, sanitary products, toilet seat covers. Clean mirrors, wipe down sinks and toilets, and remove dirt, stains, trash as needed during the day.
3. Complete assigned “work orders”, including, but not limited to: moving of office-related furniture, equipment and supplies on an as-needed basis; weekly cleaning of the interiors of office refrigerators in café areas. Work orders will also include tasks related to function/event set-ups and take downs.
4. Covers reception desk and related duties when the Receptionist is on break or on leave.
5. Assist Receptionist with sorting and distributing office mail and packages. Drop off outgoing mail to postal or shipping locations and, as needed, courier urgent documents.
6. Place and remove carpet runners in lobby and reception areas as required by weather conditions. Assist Receptionist with the receipt of freight room deliveries and their delivery to appropriate locations.
7. Provides administrative support to the Executive Office as requested.
8. Provide back up in emergency safety situations.
