As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform various maintenance tasks to maintain a clean, safe environment in County Parks and recreation facilities and grounds.

At approximately 120,042 acres of parkland and 872 miles of trails, Maricopa County is home to one of the largest regional park systems in the nation. Currently, there are twelve parks in Maricopa County's regional park system. Each is unique and offers its visitors a wide variety of recreational opportunities. In addition to the parkland, the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department oversees the Maricopa Trail, a 315-mile trail system that encircles the valley and links all the regional parks together. We Require

One year of general maintenance, custodial, or building maintenance experience
-
High School diploma or GED
-
An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value

Two or more years of general maintenance, custodial, or building maintenance experience

Experience in a natural desert park and recreation setting

Experience working with computer use regularly with word processing and spreadsheet programs

Certificate related to facility maintenance such as plumbing, HVAC, or related discipline

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word) and Internet programs
Job Contributions

Performs facilities maintenance activities including, but not limited to, cleaning and maintaining restrooms, ramadas, and other park locations, painting interior, and external structures, graffiti removal, install road and trail signage, complete minor irrigation and plumbing jobs including changing and repairing leaks and replacing plumbing fixtures, fence repair, and installation, and minor electrical repair

Performs landscape and/or desert maintenance, trash collection, tree pruning, and other desert vegetation maintenance, weeding, erosion control, and trail maintenance

Operates a backhoe or small tractor

Performs general maintenance and repair of power equipment, septic systems, and water systems

Provides direction to probationary or other work crews in manual labor tasks

Provides assistance with emergencies in the park, rescues, or basic first aid

Greets customers, provide information, answer questions, and collect entry fees
Working conditions

Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire

Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions, including temperatures over 100 degrees. This position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays
