We are seeking a motivated Junior Engineer to join a dynamic team within our growing operations in Rochester, Vermont. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to test and innovate new ideas for product design, as well as test ideas and materials for new and existing products. As a Junior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing innovative solutions that integrate LED lighting with machine vision applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Research & Development:
- Conduct research on the latest advancements in LED lighting and machine vision technologies.
- Identify new materials or techniques that could be used to enhance new or existing products
- Optimize lighting systems for various machine vision applications to ensure high performance and reliability
Design & Prototyping:
- Create and test prototypes to validate new concepts and technologies
- Create software or programs that integrate with machine vision cameras and other hardware
System Integration:
- Integrate LED lighting systems with machine vision hardware and software
- Work with our senior software developer to create algorithms and software for image processing and analysis
Collaboration & Documentation:
- Collaborate with the engineering team, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and product managers to ensure successful project outcomes
- Document research findings, design specifications, and testing results
- Organize and maintain engineering lab space(s)
- Organize and maintain component libraries
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's orBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optoelectronics, Computer Engineering or a related field
Experience: Desire to learn and grow in a fast paced technical field. Experience with image processing and machine vision algorithms is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Electrical Engineering skills are desirable: creating wiring documentation, soldering, assembling, small SMT components, etc.
- Understanding of some programming languages, mainly C++, Python or similar
- Experience with CAD software for designing electronic and mechanical components a plus
- Familiarity with machine vision software tools and libraries (e.g., OpenCV) a plus but not required
Soft Skills: Strong analitical and problem solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
