Job Summary:
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment, ensuring efficient production processes, high-quality output, and alignment with company goals. This role involves strategic planning, process optimization, resource management, and team leadership to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Operational Management:

Oversee day-to-day operations of low volume/high mix manufacturing environment, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient use of resources.

Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to optimize productivity and quality.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Strategic Planning:

Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business goals.

Identify opportunities for growth and improvement, and implement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
Process Improvement:

Analyze current production processes and identify areas for improvement.

Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and make data-driven decisions.
Resource Management:

Manage the allocation and utilization of resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment.

Develop and manage budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure cost-effective operations.

Oversee maintenance and procurement of equipment and materials to ensure operational continuity.
Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, including supervisors, machinists, and support staff.

Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.

Quality Control:

Ensure that all products meet quality standards and customer specifications.

Implement and maintain quality control systems, including inspections, testing, and documentation.

Customer Satisfaction:

Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to understand customer needs and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.

Address customer concerns and complaints, and work to improve customer satisfaction and retention.
Project Management:

Oversee major projects from planning through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with overall business objectives.
Health and Safety:

Promote and enforce a culture of safety within the low volume/high mix manufacturing environment.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and conduct regular safety audits and training.
Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare regular reports on operational performance, including production metrics, financial performance, and project status.

Analyze data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

Education and Experience:

15 + years’ experience in operations management within a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment.
