ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical engineers develop designs and drawings for new products and tools and then bring them to full rate use. The primary duties include:
· Develop CAD models, bill of materials, and dimensioned drawings for parts and tools
· Perform structural and thermal expansion analysis to optimize designs
· Perform GD&T to ensure proper fits and alignment
· Perform Failure Modes and Affects Analysis and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) analysis.
· Procure materials to build parts and tools
· Develop work instructions for in-house made parts and tools
· Personally assemble and test parts and tools
· Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement of designs and processes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following are the minimum qualifications required for eligibility for this role.
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
· >4 years of experience developing composite parts and tools
· Demonstrated proficiency in CAD tools such as Inventor, Solidworks, or NX
· Demonstrated proficiency of static structural and thermal expansion analysis
· Demonstrated proficiency in GD&T, FMEA, and DFMA
· Demonstrated experience designing composite layup tools
· Desire to work hands-on with hardware
· Demonstrated ability to work in a small, dynamic team environment with minimal oversight
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The following are used as discriminators for candidates that exceed the basic qualifications above.
· Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
· >6 years of experience developing and controlling composite production processes
· Proficiency in design of composite parts, development of ply books, and structural analysis of composite parts
· Proficiency in selecting resin systems for composite parts
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work flexible hours on-site to support production schedules.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation will vary based on demonstrated proficiency in skills, professional experience, and education. The expected compensation range for this job is: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00/per year.
