Our removal technicians are responsible for the care, removal, and transport of the deceased. This position will be part of our WCME division that will be transporting the deceased from scenes or facilities to the Wayne County Medical Examiner. This involves situations that can be tough for some people, and you will need to be prepared to handle them with respect. Attire here is a black polo, black pants, and black boots. Black coat during the cold season.
This position can also provide the option to be available for our funeral home side of the company. These involve House calls, nursing homes, and hospital pickups. We wear suits or professional attire and transport to the funeral home. This would open up your availability to more calls and increase monthly wages. (This would be preferred by everyone)
- Responsible for operating company-owned vehicles in a safe and legal manner.
- Maintain company vehicle cleanliness.
- Professional appearance.
- Ability to lift and maneuver 100+ lbs in different environments.
- Follow processes and procedures outlined by policies.
- Follow the chain of custody, paperwork, and deceased identification procedures.
- Cooperate with first responders, law enforcement, medical examiners, hospital staff, and other facility staff.
- Exhibit sensitivity to bereaved family members.
- Safely remove and transport decedents to their destination; complying with facility guidelines for delivery.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Valid US Driver’s License
- Pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs

Schedules
- 6pm-6am, 4-5 nights a week (on call)(Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat)
- You will be on-call, therefore there is down time during these shifts.
Day in the Life...
Our removal techs work from home and will share vans with other Techs around them. You will either have a van at your home or drive to one nearby for your shifts. You will then reviece calls and will need to be en route within 15 min. You will then conduct your pick-up alone (For facilities only unless training still) or with a partner (all scene-calls are 2+ people) that would meet you on-scene. From there you will transport the deceased to their destination. During this time, you can and will get more calls to complete while you're out.

Pay: $1,000.00 - $2,000.00 per month
