Mariani Premier Group is seeking a full-time Controller to support two premier landscape companies.
Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting and finance functions of two premier landscape companies, Borst in Allendale, NJ, and Siciliano in Red Bank, NJ. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, advanced Excel proficiency, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective leadership qualities.
Essential Functions:
- Direct and supervise the accounting teams at each location to ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
- Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and statistical data for review by operating management and the Corporate Controller.
- Analyze financial and statistical data, investigate variances to budgets/forecasts and prior years, and provide insights to improve results and achieve financial goals.
- Collaborate with operating management to develop annual budgets, monthly cash flow forecasts, and periodic updates/forecasts.
- Supervise the compilation of revenue, recognized costs, and profits on significant construction and maintenance projects.
- Present financial results to senior management during monthly operating reviews.
- Act as the local coordinator for each operating entity during the implementation of the company's new system-wide accounting and operating technology.
- Work with corporate offices and other divisions to coordinate efforts and group projects.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA preferred).
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Previous experience as a public accounting manager or in a similar Controller role.
- Knowledge/experience in construction accounting (revenue recognition ASC 606) is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This role involves direct supervision of the accounting staff at each operating entity, as well as oversight of multiple indirect reports.
