The Family Crisis Center, Inc. is looking for Victim Advocates at the Domestic Violence Shelter. Shifts are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 6pm until 8am. Daytime shifts are also available, daytime shifts are from 8am - 6pm.
Job Description:
- Effectively answer crisis hot line to provide education, advocacy, and referrals.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude in dealing with clients, staff, and other professionals.
- Complete initial intake and exit procedures.
- Be able to maintain working relationship with client while providing necessary services to help clients reach their goals.
- Facilitate group and individual advocacy services.
- Assist shelter residents with daily living and parenting activities
- Refer to community resources and services necessary for shelter residents and their children
- Ensure accurate documentation including case note documentation.
- Ensure compliance with agency/shelter policies and procedures.
- Complete assigned night or weekend duties.
- Maintain the enforcement of Shelter Guidelines.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff and volunteers.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Attend and participate regularly in case consultation with staff
Ideal candidates:
- High school diploma or equivelent
- Basic computer skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Set and maintain ethically appropriate boundaries
- Self - motivated
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
