General Description
The Primary Therapist is a therapeutic guide, journeying with the clients on their road to recovery, from admission through discharge. The Primary Therapist provides clinical assessments and contributes insightful, practical and meaningful information to the development of treatment plans. He/she orients new clients to the treatment program and makes introductions to the staff and other program participants. Each Primary Therapist carries a caseload and provides clinical treatment in the form of, but not limited to, individual, family and group counseling. As a member of the treatment team, the Primary Therapist meets weekly in collaborative fashion with the rest of the team to discuss cases. Licensed clinicians (Psychologist, LMFT, LCSW, LPC, etc.) and registered associates must possess knowledge of mental health conditions, dual diagnosis, and/or chemical dependency
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain a caseload of approximately 5-8 clients (including individual and family sessions)
- Provide program and clinical orientations to Clients and Families
- Complete Biopsychosocial Assessments upon admission
- Completing the Comprehensive Treatment Plan and Integrated Treatment Summary
- Identifying weekly treatment goals and writing contracts specific to individual client needs
- Interfacing with utilization management/insurance team, providing appropriate clinical information to obtain initial certification and continuing stay certification as required
- Complete all necessary documentation on time in EMR
- Facilitate weekly therapy groups, as assigned by your Clinical Director
- Attend weekly Treatment Team meetings and present cases to clinical team
- Coordinate after-care with parents and Discharge Coordinator
- Commuting as requested
- Additional duties/assignments as requested
Education/Skill Requirements
- Currently licensed (LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC) OR registered as an associate (AMFT, ASW, or APCC)
- Willingness to participate in foundational or intensive training in DBT provided by Behavioral Tech or another reputable DBT trainer
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
- Must be able to pass a Live Scan background check
- Exceptional clinical judgment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Availability to be on-call
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
