Position Title: Associate Buyer
Position Reports To: Purchasing and Materials Manager
Department: Purchasing
Location: Urbana, OH
Primary Activities/Duties:
Place and administrate POs for MRO, supplies, spare parts, tools and services
Follow up with vendors to ensure in time deliveries
Find sources for special parts and/or services
Work with suppliers to reduce costs
Support Maintenance in regards to all supply related areas
Work with Receiving and Accounting to resolves issues
Purchasing management of fasteners, packaging and paint
Run order proposals, place POs, run open order and past due open PO reports, follow up with suppliers in regards to in time deliveries
Support Manufacturing by filling expedite requests
Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Sit for long durations of time, up to 8 hours. Work at a computer and keyboard for majority of work time. Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, waist level.
Mental Requirements:
Work in a fast paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, learn office procedures and learn and use new software. Must be detail oriented; communicate effectively via oral and written communications with all levels of employees, vendors and customers.
Safety Requirements:
Wear safety-toed footwear, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and additional personal protective equipment where required.
Direction & Decision Making:
Complete directives given either verbally or written, make and assist in determining logical
decisions.
Relationship:
Direct Contacts: Purchasing and Materials Manager, Purchasing & Sourcing personnel,
Managers, Supervisors, Maintenance and internal and external vendors and customers.
Indirect Contacts: All other departments throughout the plant.
Knowledge & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Experience in vendor negotiations and materials
management and sourcing preferred. Strong PC skills including: MRP, and MS Office. SAP
experience a plus.
Work Environment: Must work in both office and plant floor environment.
