The Residential Counselor - Awake Night Staff works as part of the therapeutic team to provide a therapeutic milieu for residents. Counselors provide rehabilitation and skills building to residents individuals and groups within the residential program and as well as collaboration, linkages and collateral services to those involved in the resident’s life.
Seeking two Night Awake Staff for the Following Shifts:
Varied Weekend Shifts
1. Establishes and maintains a supportive relationship with residents & completes night shift duties as assigned
2. Supports a person-centered treatment style and fosters maximum self-determination on the part of residents
3. Oversees the continuous supervision for residents to ensure safety and wellbeing through the night shift
4. Participates in transition services for residents (e.g. home visits)
5. Implements a continuum of positive programming activities that are culturally relevant, trauma informed, age appropriate and designed to support participants in maximizing potential
6. Implements agreed upon positive behavioral supports to minimize the risk factors related to behavioral, substance abuse, mental health, health or judicial challenges
7. Documents behaviors (and token economies) and their corresponding interventions daily
8. Provides skill building support to residents
9. Provide individual and small group rehabilitation services (e.g. structured groups such as communicating effectively, know your rights group, accountability group, planning group and individual meetings with residents to review their progress towards their Needs and Services Plans
10. Transport residents as directed by supervisor and if deemed an eligible driver
11. Communicate effectively with all staff involved in the daily life of the resident
12. Assists residents in accessing generic community based services to enhance their ability to participate in social/recreational activities in natural environments as prescribed by the resident’s Needs and Services Plan
13. Meet with the Facility Manager weekly for discussion of assigned residents
14. Participates in transition services for new participants (e.g. home visits, observations at residential facilities, etc.)
