Job Overview
Position requires utilization of clinical knowledge and excellent customer service skills to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per provider’s orders in the hospital, ambulatory surgery center or in office places of service.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Consult with patient to schedule patient surgery and/or procedures
- Show patient surgery videos and answer questions as requested
- Obtain benefits and eligibility for professional fees from the insurance company and inform the patient appropriately
- Collect any surgery deposits and assist the patient with setting up payment plans.
- Complete a financial waiver form and educate the patient accordingly as to the ultimate financial responsibility
- Enter surgery posting and patient data in the EMR
- Email a surgery packet to the patient including pre-op and surgery instructions, post op appointment, reminder of any balances to be collected prior to the surgery date, attach both the surgery handbook and facility information
- Update Legacy surgery Calendar, and invite appropriate vendors and physicians to attend
- Coordinate surgery with other physicians
- Coordinate surgery clearances
- Send surgery orders to the appropriate facility
- Initiate precertification for commercial payers either online or by phone as per payer protocol as well as verifications of Personal Injury approvals
- Follow up on precertification until a determination is obtained
- Coordinate Peer to Peer or appeal discussions for insurance denials
- Ensure all DME and MRI/X rays/CT scans are forwarded to the provider prior to the surgery date
- Post-surgery with the facility either on the phone or online per facility protocol
- Assist as needed with ASC and patient workflow also related to front desk receptionist duties.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
